Waves of Harmony was started in 2011 as an all-female a cappella chorus, singing four part close harmony.
We sing a wide range of songs ranging from old ballads, to modern up-beat songs, including show songs and inspirational music.
Experience is not essential as we provide any help you might need. The ability to read music is also not essential, though it obviously does help. Teach tracks are provided to help you learn.
We meet every Tuesday night throughout the year.
We start each rehearsal with voice and movement warm-ups, which are easy to join in.
Then we practise our current repertoire of songs.
We sing in four part harmony and you will be placed in one of the following four sections (whichever best suits your voice)
· Tenor (the highest voice part)
· Lead (usually sings the melody)
· Baritone (harmonises with the melody)
· Bass (the lowest voice part)
Come along and have a listen to us singing.
Join in if you like, but there is absolutely no pressure.
If you decide you’re interested in becoming part of our chorus, you will have a buddy as a contact to help you settle in.
Soon you will be given the voice appraisal music for your section, together with all the support you need from your Section Leader. You can take as many weeks as you need to learn this, and when you feel confident, you will sing in a supported quartet in private. Your Section Leader will sing with you.
You are not alone!
Please bring some water to rehearsal, to oil the vocal chords!
Only when you have passed the voice appraisal, will a monthly subscription be required to cover the running costs of the chorus.
We love having new members - it makes our chorus feel fresh and alive. We know you will love being with us!
